Simple advice for the perfect engagement ring
Are you thinking of popping the big question? Unless you’re a very calm person or have planned it a long time ago, you are probably stressing yourself about when, where and how to propose.
And above all that you have to choose the perfect engagement ring. And it has to be one that will blow your loved one away! With so many jewelry stores and ring styles, it is hard to know where to begin. We have prepared a few tips, that should help you narrow down the selection. So you can be prepared when you walk into the next jewelry store.
Budget
It is a sensitive topic (especially when it comes to a gift). But at the end of the day, it is your money and you do not want your everyday life to suffer because you’ve spent too much, right? Before you start window shopping, think thoroughly about your budget. How much are you willing to spend on the engagement ring? How expensive gift would your life companion feel comfortable wearing on their finger?
And once you’ve decided on that it will make it much easier setting foot into a jewelry store. And you will have the answer to the first question ready!
Practicality
Consider your partner’s lifestyle when thinking of what kind of an engagement ring to get. What do they do for a living? What are their hobbies? If they are a very sporty outdoors type, they might not feel comfortable wearing a big valuable rock on their finger in their free time. Nobody wants to lose something so valuable in the woods. Or damage it while hiking.
Style
Based on your partner’s style you can choose the following three things that make an engagement ring. Firstly, decide on which metal to choose for the frame. Then, think about whether you want a diamond or a gemstone on the frame. Thirdly, think about the shape of the stone.
Your partner’s personality and style are really important here. It will help you choose the shape and materials if you consider their clothes and other jewelry they wear.
Go vintage
Sometimes the best has already been created. Consider visiting some antique shops and making your partner happy by finding the perfect antique fit for them there. You never know, you might just stumble upon a timeless piece of jewelry that fits your partner’s personality best.
Get your partner to choose – after you’ve proposed
If you are still lost after you’ve thought all this through or simply want your partner to decide for themselves what they want to wear on their finger, many jewelers offer a great solution – temporary ring setting.
This usually means that you buy a diamond or gemstone and they install it in a temporary setting. Once you’re engaged you go to the jewelers together and your partner can choose exactly what they want their ring to look like.
This could be the perfect solution to taking some of the stress of popping the question away. Unless you feel your partner wouldn’t find this romantic enough.
