In an update that’s far from surprising, Clarence House recently announced that Prince Harry will be the best man at his older brother’s upcoming marriage service. Meanwhile, Prince William’s bride-to-be, Kate Middleton, has chosen her younger sister Philippa, who goes by the name of Pippa in the family, to be the maid of honor.
The royal couple have also chosen to keep the affair within the family and a close-knit circle of friends, with a mix of young relatives, godchildren and close friends set to attend the wedding as page boys and bridesmaids. The ceremony will be held on the 29th of April, at Westminster Abbey.
In royal weddings, bridegrooms often select a person referred to as a “supporter,” instead of the traditional “best man.” Prince Charles for example, opted to choose Prince Andrew, his brother, when he tied the knot with Princess Diana in 1981 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Breaking tradition, the older prince decide to call his brother Harry his “best man.”
Needless to say, Prince Harry was elated to hear the couple’s decision. Harry, who’s currently training to fly Apache choppers, announced in an official statement that he’s excited that his brother asked him to be his best man. He adds that he’s delighted with the idea of finally getting a sister, something which the young prince has apparently always wanted.
Since the royal couple’s engagement, the world media has kept a very close eye on the two’s activities. The whole world is eagerly awaiting the royal wedding, and we can’t help but feel excited as well.
